Skipper's Restaurant Informative - Good Food and Bad Customers

Review by Starlord on 2010-02-28
I went into Skipper's in Lacey, WA, to purchase a container of their clam chowder. This is the REAL clam chowder, not that despicable Mahattan style stuff. Skipper's has the best clam chowder I have ever eaten, anywhere. As I was waiting at the cash register to place my order, I heard a couple telling the cashier that Skipper's had lost a customer. Come to find out, there are two signs at the cash register advising that the 'All You Can Eat' special had two rules: 1. No sharing with others, and 2. No taking left over out. The couple had been told verbally also, no sharing. They were both eating off the special, and were asked to leave. The signs also stated that is people abused the special, then Skipper's would have to discontinue it. This couple felt put upon because they were informed of the rules, then violated them. Those rules are there for a purpose.

I have seen that same "no sharing" rule at restaurants that have salad bars, breakfast bars, and buffets.

Good for Skippers for throwing them out. I'm guessing the loss of their business/thievery won't be an issue.

wally, yes, I am allergic to shellfish but that doesn't mean that he shouldn't be able to enjoy the foods that he likes, I just get something else. Our roomie likes clam chowder as well so he gotten a container for them to share.

Those two who broke the rules are idiots. My cats have better manners. People like that ruin it for everyone else. I'm glad the management had the cahonies to tell them to get out. Love it!
