David's Bridal Complaint - Sloppy Alterations of Bridesmaids Dress
CHANDLER, ARIZONA -- I am a bridesmaid in my brother's wedding on March 27, 2010. We chose to purchase the bridesmaids dresses at David's Bridal because the bride-to-be found a really pretty style of dress for all the bridesmaids to wear.
I am short so my dress had to be shortened, the bust had to be lifted and the straps had to be taken up. The seamstress was very rude and basically told me I have a horrible body type and to never get married because I will never find a dress to fit me. I'm sure I am not the only short person to have ever needed a dress to be altered. They said it would be six weeks to get the dress altered and it would be ready on March 1st.
Today, I went to David's Bridal and got the dress and tried it on. The dress has an underskirt with a little bit of tulle to make the skirt poof out a bit. When the seamstress was pinning the skirt, I remember her pinning both the underskirt and outer skirt. However, they didn't shorten the underskirt so now it is about 2 inches longer than the outer skirt and the tulle is sticking out and it looks funny. The area where they fixed the bust pinches in certain places and doesn't lay right.
We paid over $100 for these alterations and they completely screwed the dress up. I asked about them fixing the underskirt and the bust, and they said it would take 6 more weeks. The wedding is in 4 weeks. Luckily, it's the underskirt that's messed up so we can just pin it up and hope it doesn't show. I am wearing a bolero jacket with the dress so that should cover the mistakes on the bust.
I am really upset with David's Bridal. When you pay a lot of money for something, then it should be done right. But, all eyes will be on the bride anyway so hopefully nobody notices the mistakes on my dress.
