Expedia. Com is great when booking online tickets and hotels, but they have discrepancies in rules in restrictions they post on their website, versus the actual ones of the airlines and hotels. And, Expedia will not stand behind these mistakes. They do everything they can in their power to get out of remedying the mistake.
I bought an international airline ticket for over $1,100 and then needed to change the return. When I was put on hold for over 30 minutes at Expedia, I called Air France directly and they said that no problem, when I new my return date then call them back and they would make the change for some fee.
When I tried to make the change two weeks later, Air France told me the return ticket wasn't changeable. I called Expedia and they told me that there wasn't anything they could do, that they had to follow the rules of the airline. But, it didn't state anywhere on the rules and regulations on Expedia's site when I purchased the ticket through Expedia. In fact, it states that changes may incur an additional fee, which is typically the case with an economy fare ticket.
I was told by Expedia that they would call me back with a supervisor, but they didn't call. I called them back and when I did, another supervisor told me again that their is nothing they could do, despite recognizing that the rules they put on their site were incorrect and misleading. I appealed to yet another supervisor, the 4th one, who finally checked into the situation and as it turns out, the ticket is changeable and Air France told me that is was not.
Bottom line is that I have spent over 4 hours on the line with Expedia and the airline, talked to 4 supervisors at Expedia and had I not persisted, I would have never known that Air France was lying and that Expedia's 3 supervisors essentially refused to do anything about it.
I still do not have a resolution to the problem. This error by Expedia stands to cost me over $2,000, the price of a new ticket purchased at short notice.
Under any circumstances, do not use Expedia for any travel! Poor customer service and they don't fix their own mistakes and it will cost you big time when their is a problem!
