Medco Health Complaint - Medco's Creative Accounting
I am on fixed income and long-since retired. Unfortunately, the union I belong to long ago got into a contractual arrangement with Medco and I can't afford to leave it.
Bottom line: it's almost impossible to get a quote on a co-pay before the prescription is shipped and your bank account is hit.
When a prescription turned out to cost hundreds of buck in co-pay, I told Medco to stop the order. The charge was already on my bank card and I was threatened with a whopping overdraft.
Medco finally removed the charge.
A week later as I renewed an inexpensive prescription (a statin) Medco imposed a "hold" on my bank account for $10. That was fine. The next day, they hit the account for $187... and called it a "back-end credit."
So now, the bank account will be overdrawn again.
The bigger problem is that you can rarely get anyone on the line to talk at Medco, a very uncaring and impersonal company.
