Sears Complaint - This is about Sears Canada Customer Service re: their "product" lines
KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA -- 4 years ago I paid $2000 for a top freezer (wit ice maker) fridge with glass shelves, 2 slide out. Within the first year I noticed spider cracks coming from the cap of the screw on top of the fridge door. Thought okay, not a big deal, we will just seal it. Over the next couple years, all of my shelves have cracked in several areas, to the point where now I don't feel comfortable taking the shelf out to clean it because I am not sure if the plastic around the glass will stay in tact when I remove the glass for cleaning. One of the produce drawers has a huge gash from top to bottom. The seal around the freezer is coming away from the door. How does that happen?
I called in and was told that the warranty was only the compressor. I asked about the problems. "This is a Kenmore higher end product that I bought from you guys solely because I always believed that Sears stood behind defective product." She said she could send someone out for $70 dollars to "look" at it. Then if the parts are available we can buy them! So, I asked again if they were going to stand behind their product? She said that is all they can do. I said that they can send someone out for free to look at it. She told me to go "and buy a new fridge!!!" Are you kidding me? Oh, and my fridge was made by Whirlpool for Kenmore.
So, my next step is to take my pics and send them to our BBB and see what they say.
