Yum Yum Donuts Complaint - Yum Yum, Vista's home of the ROCK hard bagel.

Review by darkmeat.tom on 2010-03-06
VISTA, CALIFORNIA -- Date: 03/06/2010, Time: 6:35 a. m., Place Yum Yum Donuts 924 S. Santa Fe Ave. Vista, Ca 92084.

I stopped at the Vons to grab a bagel for my 6 year-old son but they didn't have them out yet, so I went next door to the Yum Yum (first and last time going there). I ordered a blueberry bagel, plain - not toasted. Clerk #4 (according to my receipt) went out of sight into the back to get it. At the time I thought she was grabbing a fresh one from a cooling rack, but I think now that the odds are better that she was digging through the trash. Once getting to work and opening the bag I saw that the bagel was completely solid. I've never had day-old bagels before but it seems that for one to achieve this state of rigor mortis it has to be at least 2-3 days old.
I called the store to complain about the tire shaped crouton they had just sold me but I don't speak enough Spanish and they didn't speak enough English for the complaint to go anywhere.
Not only will I never go there again but I will tell all that will listen my story about Yum Yum Donuts of Vista, Ca selling me a bagel that beat out diamonds on the Mohs hardness scale as the hardest known mineral to mankind.

-Very unhappy customer.

Bagels are not soft, toasted or not. I buy Lenders and the amount of hardness varies pretty much bag from bag. Never had a rock solid one though unless I froze them.

You obviously never heard Spike Jones' song where he says a bagel is a donut that's dipped in cement. Bagels are boiled in salt water before baking to make the crust hard and chewy. If you get a day ol bagel, the insides are beginning to catch up to the crust. Oy vey!

if you want really soft ones try the Weight Watcher's bagels.
just be prepared to poo a little more since they're a bit higher in fiber

Oh wow, I haven't heard of Yum Yum donuts since I was a kid. We used to have one where I used to live and they had some awesome bear claws that had apples in them. My dad used to take me there after our paper delivery route. Brings back some great memories.
