Sears Complaint - Two Strikes and They're Out
We should have known. In October I ordered a winter coat from Sears.com, paid by debit card, and $165 was deducted from my account. It did not arrive on the date they said it would. Following up with Sears Help in Nov., they apologized and said they were not able to send the coat. So I asked when would I get my refund? They had no authorization to refund my money. What? Now we go through a succession of reps all in the space of a day or two: My money would be refunded in 24-48 hours. It wasn't. It would be refunded in 30 days. It wasn't. It would be refunded in Feb.???? Very strange that response, but no matter--it wasn't. So--no coat, no $165.
That was just the beginning. Our Sears Calypso washer conked out in December. We had an extended warranty contract and within three weeks the parts came and the repair man was not able to fix it. After a huge run around with the national support line and the managers of two local stores (one who lost his job in the process) and under the terms of the extended warranty, Sears finally agreed to remove and replace both the washer and dryer or refund the money. The local store (Durango, CO)refused to do either--after they had taken the washer and dryer away!. So--no washer, no dryer, no $1900 spent on the faulty washer and dryer and $285 spent on an extended warranty for nothing.
If you want to get absolutely nothing for your money, get the hugest runaround in service you can imagine (I mean 2-3 months of non-stop calls)--shop at Sears. My recommendation is to go elsewhere--anything has to be better than Sears.
