After going through some of the positive and negative reviews written about Magic Jack, I decided to give it a shot. I paid the $40 with tax at my local Wal-Mart for the hardware, brought it home, hooked it up with my computer off and nothing. Unplugged the Magic Jack and plugged it back in, this time I left the computer on, and it began downloading the software immediately. Very impressive. Within 30 minutes I had my phone number and made a call. No more phone bill for a year. Wow, how awesome is that. Now, since I'm sceptical about companies who offer additional years, (I did that with a pager back in the day, and the company closed, and well, 6 months of pager use for the price of five years did not please me) Nonetheless I did not sign up for additional years. Well, the Cricket Bill for 100 bucks for two lines is now gone, as is their lousy service. Oh, I should point out, I had a spare desk top that is hooked to cable internet and that's where the magic jack is installed. Thanks Magic Jack!
