Hollister Complaint - Rip-off - Purchased over $300.00 online

Purchased over $300.00 online - Complaint
Review by Adeeb on 2010-03-08
P.O.BOX 1695 -- Hollister Co promised us E-Gift certificate of $100.00 for orders 0f $300.00 or more. We ordered and paid online for over $300.00 before Christmas 2009. When we requested the gift certificate they referred us to Abercrombie. Since then we exchanged several emails and received coupon with Zero value plus promises that were never fulfilled.

This is Deceptive Marketing practices which should be monitored by some Consumer Protection Agency.

We are advising our family and friends never to deal with these shady organizations.

If only people would stop chasing these "get something for little or nothing" marketing scams. Further, I would not have done business with any company that only has a P.O. Box for a location. But, obviously these marketing ploys are highly successful as can be seen by the number of complaints concerning them.

What are you talking about, tnchuck? Hollister is a clothing store that is found at most malls. It's pretty standard practice for clothing stores to give you certificates for purchasing certain amount of merchandise. It's not getting something for nothing. You spend x amount of money now, you'll get a certificate in the amount of y to spend at a later date. The OP did nothing stupid by taking part in a promotion.

However, it seems like Hollister/Abercrombie is really bad at their plan, because this is the third complaint about the same thing on this site. I would just keep at them until you get what is owed to you!

Agree mom, Hollister is a well known store for tweens at malls. They seem to have screwed up their holiday gift card promotion.

Nothing is for free! Enough said.

"I would not have done business with any company that only has a P.O. Box for a location" BA! My retail management teacher said this same thing in class not too long ago.

Ytrop...just because your teacher said that's a good answer, it's not a good answer for THIS situation. Hollister has a lot of brick-and-mortar locations, I don't know where tnchuck got the idea that Hollister only has a P.O. box for a location.

And justthefaxx...it's true that nothing is free. However, a store offering a promotion had better be able to back it up, and if they don't, the customer better get more than an 'oh well!'

I'm not saying BA for this situation, I'm saying BA in general. Also I very easily found a PO box for Hollister snail mail. That's pretty crappy in my opinion.

Usually, the E-GC is a code to take off the amount at the time of purchase online..where you checkout there would be a box for discount or promo codes...at least that is how my baghaus account works.
