GE Financial and Meijer Complaint - Unreasonable Fees - Credit Card

Review by G. E. Dunnwith on 2010-03-08
We had Meijer's GE Financial credit card. They would not allow us to set it up for automatic monthly payments in full through our bank. One month we owed $28 and forgot to go online with our bank to "schedule" the monthly payment. We were charged about $33 for this - more than we owed - for a one month loan of $28! (1% per month would be $0.28 so they charge over 100 times that reasonable interest rate).

They wouldn't budge so we canceled our card. We now buy less from Meijer, quit using their gas station, and GE Financial lost a credit card customer. Guess they don't need the business. We hope others vote the way we did until they wake up and treat customers fairly.

The mistake was yours but the fact is neither of them care about you, as a customer. Their interest is only your money.

The charge had nothing to do with interest, it's your late fee, which is a flat fixed amount regardless of balance. I'm guessing you probably knew that though.

You cut off your nose to spite your face. You basically stopped a service you were happy with because you made a mistake and they would not excuse you for it.

Am I the only one who can own up to my mistakes and not blame the retailer for it?
