Company Response on 04/14/2010:
The information in this post is completely false. We have NEVER had a traditional funeral cost this much let alone a basic cremation. Anyone with any questions or concerns regarding this review, feel free to contact us at 1-800-429-7651. We will be happy to discuss our pricing or send you a copy of our general price list. I will also be looking into this review as it is false reporting.

Other than the cremation itself (which by the way is not so simple), what else was included in that price?
Posted by PepperElf on 2010-03-08:
20,000? somehow im thinking the OP meant $2,000 or he bought a hell of a lot more than a simple cremation

and keep in mind with any funeral - a lot of things cost.
i.e. a funeral service, a grave-side funeral service (if you're not keeping the ashes), a headstone, an urn

none of those are free.

Posted by Venice09 on 2010-03-08:
Exactly, Pepper. I don't think it was $2,000, but $20,000 can add up quickly depending on all the services you receive.
Posted by Skye on 2010-03-08:
I also believe the OP meant, $2,000.00, but we won't know unless they come back and let us know.

As for me, I'm having a green funeral, when I go.

very true. even having a funeral service will cost you.

the cheapest you can go is just a cremation and then scatter the ashes.

someone i know had to almost do that - except that the grave plot was purchased some years ago, so there's a least a resting spot and a marker.

The only way to go cheaper is to join the military. I'm not sure how many years you have to serve but you can then qualify for burial in a military cemetery. and, compared to the other graveyards around here the veteran's cemetery is very well maintained

Cremation doesn't necessarily mean the cost will be much less than a full blown funeral. The only thing a cremation eliminates is the cost of a burial plot, and even then some people bury the ashes. If this was a complete funeral, then $20,000 is possible. But for just the cremation, $2,000 is more like it.

The $20,000 price tag must be a mistake, especially for cremation.

Unless the OP comes back and lists the services that they requested there is no way for anyone here to tell if the funeral home was trying to rip them off. Then again, I am not up to date on those prices anyway.

where is the decimal point supposed to be in you $$$ figures?
Posted by old fart on 2010-03-08:
My cremation will be $2150...

I don't think it was a typo. If so, he screwed it up in 3 separate places. Maybe $200.00? $20,000 is ridiculous. In any case there is missing information here.

This is going to be my final resting place. Green funerals are the way to go.

Have a little respect here folks. I just hate the thought of cremation. Don't ask me why, I just do. Hey, LS I always liked Dear Abby as well. For some reason Judge Judy reminds me of her. No nonsense, just jump to the chase and tell it like it is. LOL

maybe it was 20000¥
