Ashley Furniture Complaint - Extremely Unhappy
ALGONQUIN, ILLINOIS -- I purchased a dining room set and a bedroom set, dropping three grand at this store. When the furniture was delivered there were marks on the chair that made it look chipped, but the delivery man said it was "accent" coloring of the wood. Well the set is one year old now and the table looks awful! The finish is completely coming off the table itself, like the wood is just being eaten away. The "accent" coloring on the chairs have spread and I have "accent" marks on every chair all over. The table is embarrassing. I have to put a table cloth on it when people come over because I am so embarrassed by it.
I contacted Ashleys to see if it was still under a manufacturers warranty and I was told it was. A tech came out and took pictures and said someone would call me. No one ever did. I called them back finally and was told the file was closed and they would do nothing about the table. They believe the finish was coming off to "water damage" Are you kidding me? What kind of table can't stand to be wiped down after use? They suggested having a tech come back out after I explained the extent of damage on the piece, so I agreed.
They said someone would come out on Tue. Well instead on Tue. the day they were to come out, I get a call saying THEY decided not to send a tech out case is closed. I asked her why and she said shed have to call me back. Well she did actually call me back and said they felt the areas on the table looked like something hot had been set on the table and it was FURNITURE ABUSE. I have NEVER layed anything hot on my table. First water damage, now heat damage? They are looking for any excuse to not replace the table.
I don't know what kind of business doesn't want to stand by its products, especially with all the competition and with the recession going on right now, but this is so unprofessional on so many levels and Ashley's does not care about their products or their customers. I will continue to get my word out on what a poor business they run and how crappy their furniture is and that their "customer service" isn't there to help you in any way, they are there to fight you and make it look like the customers fault. I think a business that sells good quality furniture puts a lot more care in their name and customer satisfaction which Ashley's clearly does not. DO NOT SHOP AT ASHLEYS FURNITURE!!!!
