Quark Expeditions Complaint - Not keeping their word

Review by Penguin2 on 2010-03-13
NORWALK, CONNECTICUT -- I booked a cruise to the Antarctica through Natural Habitat. Quark Expeditions run the trips. I wanted a cabin to myself but the single supplement was too expensive. I was adviced that if I took an expensive cabin, chances are that no one else would want to pay that much and I might end up alone. THey assured me that I would only have a room mate if she paid the same as me. I went ahead and booked it one year ahead.
One week before the trip, I was informed that I had a room mate. I assumed that she had paid the same as me. Imagine my surprise when I found out that she paid $3890 less than me. Quark Expeditions, in order to fill up their ship, was offering half price tickets, plus free airfares and free side trips to Iguasu Falls. I didn't mind my room mate getting the freebies but I minded the difference in price of the cabin. I felt it only fair that Quark reimburse $3890 to me. They have offered me $400. Why should I take $400 when they lied to me?
