Priceline.com Complaint - Priceline Travel Insurance is a scam
I recently booked a trip to AC with 3 friends all in different cities and our wives and used Priceline to book the hotels. I booked 3 rooms together, so we were guaranteed the same hotel and booked the travel insurance for an extra charge per room, per night in case anything came up where I needed to cancel. The weekend we're going, the East Coast gets hit with a historic snow storm and all travel including highways are closed down. I actually left a day early to make it in, but my friends could not b/c of the travel, so I called Priceline and after hours on the phone with some of the worst customer service staff I've ever dealt with, I was told the rooms were cancelled and I'd receive a refund. It's been two months and countless long phone calls since to argue with them and I still haven't received the refund. The travel insurance which is made for this situation somehow does not apply, so I am looking at filing some sort of suit for false advertising. It's really not worth the time, but I've been fighting it out of spite. I would only recommend using Priceline for the low price if you're traveling last minute and guaranteed you're going. You also end up with whatever's available at the hotel and is often smoking rooms, so be aware.
