The Total Mac Complaint - The WORST service possible!

Review by TheTotalMacSUCKS on 2004-10-26
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA -- On 10/19/04, I urgently needed a power adapter for my Apple G4 Titanium powerbook. Both the Apple store and CompUSA were sold out. I called The Total Mac, since it was mentioned as an alternative by a sales person at CompUSA. I knew of nowhere else close by to get an Apple power adapter.
I called The Total Mac and asked if they had a "G4 15" power adapter" and was told by the man on the phone that they had one left. Since the name of the shop is "The Total Mac", I trusted that what I was asking for was made by or approved by Apple Computers. Since I was at work during their business hours, I had a friend go to pick up for me what I thought was an Apple G4 Titanium 15" power adapter. When my friend purchased it for me on her Mastercard, the sales person asked her if she wanted him to "plug it in to make sure it works", implying that The Total Mac do not have confidence in the merchandise they are peddling. She purchased it anyway, not knowing that it was not what I asked for. The Total Mac sold a generic brand called "BTI"; not an Apple endorsed product. There were no specifications printed on the box for the product inside, only vague, swap-meet quality information and a white, badly printed sticker label with the words "G4 15" ALUMINUM" (there is no such thing as an "aluminum") to seal it.I had to open the box to find the product wrapped lazily in brown paper. The voltage printed on the adapter was greater than my original one from Apple, and since I did not trust this generic brand, I could not risk using it.When I called the next day to tell him I had to return it, the owner of The Total Mac, raised his voice in anger and insulted me with the accusation that I was dishonestly "renting" or "using" this product by buying and returning it.
When I threatened to sue him for BAIT AND SWITCH, he said I could bring it back with a $10 "rental charge"! When I returned it on 10/25/04, the owner accused me of dishonestly placing other merchandise in the box! This will not be tolerated!
