Calvin Klein, Inc. Complaint - Appalling - Commercials

Commercials - Complaint
Review by Wallub on 2010-03-15
I am a 28 year old male. I am appalled at your new ads. I don't even have kids, but I can't imagine my nieces seeing one of these ads! Your selling cloths, yet for some reason you think that everyone is going to respond well to an ad that obviously is trying to push the lines of morality. I can't even begin to think of how offended I would be if I were religious!

POOR TAIST!!!

P.S. It is sad to me that I will have to get rid of so much of my wardrobe, but I simply can't support a company that I think is promoting such a disgusting immoral message to the public!

Anyone seen the ad the Op is talking about? I assume it is worse than the stuff CK has been doing for years??

I have not a clue, Raven. Can't be any worse than the other crap CK puts out there, commercial wise.

I Googled "new Calvin Klein ads" and this is what I came up with:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/11/eva-mendes-new-calvin-kle_n_419006.html

http://www.stylelist.com/2010/02/03/kellan-lutz-vamps-in-new-calvin-klein-x-underwear-ad-campaign/

Sorry, I don't know how to make them clickable.

Anyway, CK has been doing this kind of stuff for years and they haven't gone out of business yet and I don't think it's going to happen any time soon. Morality is subjective and while you have the right to be offended they have the right to try and draw consumers who have a different perspective.

Sex sells. It always has.

I remember way back when, when Brook Shields did an ad when she was very young (I'm not sure if she was even a teenager). They have been using these types of ads forever. A good policy is if you don't like someone's ads, then don't buy whatever it is their selling. That's the only power you have over it.

"Sex sells" - I assume you're talking about the world's "oldest profession?"

Calvin Klein ads have always been geared toward adults. I find their ads no worse than a half naked woman in a bikini advertising a car or a Harley.
