Capeannaudio Complaint - Terrible Ebay Practices

Review by Roseglove on 2010-03-16
This is a warning to those you are thinking of bidding on an item from Capeannaudio on EBAY. This seller is terrible!! I wanted to bid on an amp that I really wanted for my system and they (Capeannaudio)blocked my bids for no specific reason, so I will loose out on this amp. They never returned my emails at all. I contacted EBAY and there was nothing that they could do, so that was a dead end. I am spreading the word not to do business with this seller and I hope those of you who have had a bad experience with them will do the same. This seller should not be allowed to do business on Ebay, but what can you do!!

There are several reasons why a seller will automatically block bids from certain buyers. If you are a new seller and your feedback is (2) or less, many sellers, including myself will not accept bids from you. The reason being, bidders with no feedback have a better chance of not paying for the item and as the seller that becomes a big hassle.
Second, if a bidder has had unpaid item strikes against them or has a record of breaking Ebay rules, then a seller can choose not to accept bids from those buyers.
Lastly, the seller may not ship to your area, therefore, the bid will automatically refused. Many sellers choose to put these restrictions on their listings as a way to protect them from bidders who are not a good risk.
Try contacting the seller directly and they may agree to put you on their exemption list and allow you to bid on the item.

Oops almost forgot a big reason why bids are refused. If you do not have a verified Paypal account, most sellers will not accept bids from you. Once again, buyers without a Paypal account tend to not pay for items won.
Again, try contacting the seller directly and they may agree to add you to their exemption list and let you bid on the item. Good luck.

BA bunny. I will not usually accept bids from 0 feedback new buyers, people with low feedback, or people from countries I specified I did not want to ship to. I can and have blocked people from bidding because they did not meet my specifications. You OP, did not meet this seller's specifications and they can bar you from bidding on their items. Such is life, either ask them why they have blocked you so you can work with them or move on. Also, what makes you think people have had a bad experience with this seller? Those he chooses to sell to he likely takes good care of.

" I contacted EBAY and there was nothing that they could do"

that's because ebay gives sellers the right to block bidders.

although you may not like it, like any brick/mortar store, the seller has the right to refuse a customer

the seller is under no legal obligation to accept your patronage

Just like any store has the right to refuse service, so do Ebay sellers.

not to mention ...i looked up the seller and s/he has been listed as a "top rated seller" by ebay

Pepper, I just did the exact same thing!!!

Personally, I accept bids on low to mid priced items from zero feedback buyers. I will NOT, however, accept bids from buyers who have left negs or neutrals if they show a pattern of these or if their comments make it appear as though they simply cannot be pleased.

I cannot afford for my seller discounts or placement in best match searches to go down.

I moved to exclusively "buy it now" listings with instant paypal payment required. It's the only way I take 0 feedback buyers since the money is already in my hands.

Two weeks ago I finally gave in and changed my requirements. I no longer accept bids from buyers without a Paypal account and who have a 0 feedback rating.
Actually, I am currently waiting to close a case on a non paying bidder with a 0 rating and this should be the last time I have to go through the process. It is a real pain the rear and it's aggravating.

That's why I switched. I had to sell a book 3 times once because the first 2 buyers decided to not pay! Screw that, I require immediate payment or no dice. Auctions are crap anyway.

Yt, does Ebay do anything to deadbeat buyers? Are you allowed to leave negative feedback?
Posted by Anonymous on 2010-03-17:
last I checked they got rid of negative feedback cause people were abusing it.

Then no wonder the sellers put those restrictions on buyers. I would do the same thing. It's too bad for the honest ones but it just takes a few deadbeats to ruin it for everyone.

Wally you might want to edit that comment. I think you meant it for the forum thread. You don't want to get dinged.

went to the wrong forum lol

Wally, they got rid of negative feed back for BUYERS claiming sellers abused it. Nothing was done about the buyers who abused it. Now Ebay is an unfair playground with the buyers holding all the cards and the sellers paying for it, literally and figuratively.

I know they were playing a little cat and mouse game if u give me negative feedback ill give u negative also
I rem I had a deadbeat bidder who never paid and I was gonna give him negative he threatened to do the same to me to ruin my feedback.

Wally, yes. And now only buyers can leave negative feedback. I ask how the heck does that make it fair? How can anyone expect that only sellers cause problems? Ebay became a joke for sellers so I left.

Bunny, I hear you. I'm a small seller on ebay. Howver, it works both ways - I got my positive feedback dropped from 100% to 67% by wallyswurld. I have blocked him from buying.
Posted by rich007 on 2010-03-17:
Oh, I meant to mention. He has a private feedback profile on ebay. No problem. You can google anyone like this: ebay + wallyswurld + cheat or liar or threat etc. Wallyswurld has given 54 negative feedbacks to sellers - most of which are in the past few months. Having a private feedback profile. So a seller can't see those in his feedback given. I block any buyer with a private profile.

You can also use toolhaus.org to view only neut and negs, both given and received. Handy tool that.

Pro, sellers do have recourse for deadbeat buyers, when you file to get your final value fees refunded (since the item sold but you were not paid) you can have the option of including an unpaid item strike against the buyer. BUT unless they do it a lot it's basically nothing, and it doesn't stop them from buying.

I had the same experience with capeannaudio on ebay. I'm a buyer with NO negative feedback - ever, I'm a quick payer and have been on ebay for over 10 years. After accepting one bid from me on an item, I was blocked from making another as the auction ran down into the last minutes. They will not return any contact requests as to why I was blocked.
Posted by raven2010 on 2010-07-16:
jobert, NO buyers have negative feedback. It hasn't been permitted for over a year now.

As a seller, I look at feedback my bidders have left. If you leave a lot of negs, appear you cant be pleased, etc, I block you.
