Clearwire (aka clear) Complaint - Clear doesn't work well until your payment is due

Review by sabu on 2010-03-18
I have been Clear customer since Jan. 2010. I've noticed the connection is always strong. I get 5 bars to 7 bars many times, sometimes 2bars. With 5 star, you can't watch a video on youtube with 720p. I called the technical support to fix it, but they keep saying I need to adjust the clear USB modem to certain degree to get better reception. The funny thing is when the payment is due, Clear internet works fine anywhere near the window of my house. I highly not recommend to have Clear as your ISP.

Is this not wireless internet? I think the payment thing is coincidence. Are you making sure you have no interference in your connection? No other electronics in the path of your router and your computer? Is your adapter being controlled by Windows or software?

If Clear is using the 2.5 GHz frequency for your connection you may want to check your other devices. If you also have a cordless phone on the 2.4 GHz band, it might be interfering with your wirless internet. Move the cordless phone away from your modem, or get a new cordless phone that functions on a different frequency.

all i know about this company is that my boyfriend's parents tried it
they chucked it within a week or so when it was clear that the advertised bandwidth and the actual bandwidth they got were two different things. downloads were hell webcam chat dropped off a lot... pretty much they hated it.

I've had Clear for almost two yrs. Interesting post. First the newest modem only has 5 lights so not sure where the 7 bar (lights) are from. Cordless phone is also interesting since I have the Clear phone as well and the phone modem needs to be plugged into the Clear modem. Overall its worked. My issues have been largely caused by using it with a router that seems to require frequent rebooting.
