Blockbuster Inc. Informative - Blockbuster Express Takes Unfair Advantage of Consumers - online rental

online rental
Review by PamDB on 2010-03-18
Be very careful when renting front Blockbuster Express online...read the tiny fine print. When you reserve a film online, they tell you it must be picked up by a certain time or it will be released. What they don't tell you is, they are charging you for that time. I reserved a film on Monday afternoon, picked it up on Tuesday before 9 pm (the time I was told I must pick it up by) and returned it Wedensday before noon. But, instead of being charged the nightly rental of $1.06, I was charged 3 times that amount...Shame on you, Blockbuster, for taking advantage of your customers at a time when every penny counts. I'll put my dollars elsewhere, with an honest company!

The tiny fine print is directly under the part that says: checkout, exit cart, or cancel. You can't miss it.

"You must complete checkout to rent your movie. Once rented it will be held until 9:00 PM on Friday, March 19, 2010."

But, before you hit checkout... you have to check the box that says you agree to the terms of use.

"By clicking "Complete Rental", I understand that my credit card will be charged for my first night's rental plus tax. The rental period for my title will begin immediately after the "Complete Rental" button is clicked. If I do not pick up my movie by 9:00 PM on Friday, March 19, 2010, it will be released for other customers to rent."

"I also agree to BLOCKBUSTER Express' Terms of Use."

Did you actually read the terms of use before you clicked the little box to continue with checkout?

PamDB, What a shady practice, huh? Doesn't surprise me though Block Buster has always been a bit shady. I remember not that long ago they were sending people into collections for unpaid late fees. There are way too many better options today for movies than to ever entertain any thought of doing business with these scum bags.

Good and educational review!

bkk, they post their stores, which they have the right to. I won't give them the time of day. If the store is legally posted, a permit holder could have their permit revolked for carrying either concealed or not. I carry all the time, except when I have had a beer or a drink. Then it is locked away.
