Riverview Nissan Complaint - Warranty Work Turns into Nightmare Ripoff

Review by debjar on 2010-03-18
MESA, ARIZONA -- We asked our son to take in our car to the dealership for routine warranty maintenance - lube, oil, filter and repair of the few items - broken key fob and tire light that wouldn't turn off. When he was there the service person asked if he was there for the routine 30,000 mile check. Being 18, he thought that was what they called the routine maintenance and said yes. They never told him what that would cost and then when it was done they told him he needed to pay $550.00 or he couldn't have the car. Shocked he called us and my husband was furious. I can't believe Nissan allows this type of bait and switch. We will never buy a Nissan again or take our car to their dealerships for service. TOTAL RIPOFF!!! The car was in excellent shape and did not need belts and whatever else they did - if they even did it. I'm stunned and we are going to file a formal complaint in the morning, but thought anyone reading these forums should know that this is their practice - ripping off kids! We are loyal consumers. When we like something we typically stay true to it, but once burned they will never get our hard earned money again!
