Roper Complaint - Don't Buy Cheap Stoves

Review by help me please on 2010-03-20
INDIANA -- I bought my house in 2006 with a new white electric stove and microwave.

Worked fine for a few yrs, but today I was preheating the electric oven and the element began to burn like a magnesium fuse. It stopped only when I pulled the breaker switch.

This is bizarre and scary since its hard to extinguish a burning metal.

Anyone know anything about this? Especially any recall?

We had the same thing happen with a nationally advertised brand of kitchen range that was at least 15 years old. The wife turned the oven off and the thing quit burning. We replwced the element with one that cost us $18, and was a simple plug-in. You said it worked fine for a few years. Well, that is the thing about anything manufactured. It is made by people, who are imperfect, so how can you expect perfection from them? Appliances break down, that is reality. If it was almost new, like 2 or 3 months, I would agree with you, but appliances usually have a one year warranty. I hope you got it repaired and it is doing fine again.
