BillMeLater Complaint - Finding a way around the new credit card portection rules
A previous reviewer used the word "extortion" concerning this company and I totally agree. In March I noticed that I had not received either a paper statement or an email notice from this company in a while. I had made a $26.00 charge on the account (my first and now my last) so I went to their website. After four or five attempts to enter my account unsuccessfully (the system regreted by good password so I had to change it) I noticed that my bill was now $68.00 consisting of two $19.00 late charges, two "minimum finance charges" of $2,00 each and the original $26.00 charge. I sent two emails to customer service with no answer. I finally called them and after a twenty minute wait got a very rude telephone operator. When I explained the above situation, she stated in a very hateful tone that it wasn't the responsibility of BillMeLater to notify me when the statement was ready (BTW, it is).
I have refused to pay, and have contacted the BBB and a federal consumer site. Stay away from this site. They are thieves. They are doing whatever they can to circumvent the new credit card rules, even to the extent of fraud.
