Spitit Air Complaint - Frustrated with Spirit
I have been flying for work for 40 years. I was, unfortunately lured to try Spirit because of the supposedly low airfare. I made reservations for a round trip from Washington to Ft. Lauderdale on-line. I received a confirmation email that showed the fare $171, but no readable information about the flight. When I tried to check in on-line I found out that the reservation on file bore no resemblance to the reservation I had made. It had the wrong outbound flight time to Ft. Lauderdale anf the wrong return date to Washington. I called Customer Service in India to straighten out the problem and spent the next 2+ hours on the phone (mostly on hold). The only help they could provide was to book me on my original reservation at a cost of $511. I asked to speak to the supervisor then later the manager. No one had the authority to help or check on the original reservation, or the confirmation I was sent, or offer any consideration for the botched reservation. I had no recourse since this was sprong break and I could find no other reservation. They then charger my credit card for the entire $511 and gave me no credit for the $171 I had previously paid. I called India again for another 45 minutes but the said simply to trust them to credit my card for the $171. In my opinion, this is a dishonest ploy to prey upon of Spirit customers that book on-line. I can't imagine that this shoddy little outfit will be in business much longer.
