Motel 6 Complaint - Beware of the Motel 6 scam at Interstate 5 & State Hwy 33 in California
SANTA NELLA, CALIFORNIA -- The Motel 6 organization is running a scam with their motels located near the intersection of I-5 and State Hiway 33 in California. One motel is located just off the I-5 freeway and the other is 3 miles to the west. However, the motel furthest from the freeway appears first on the Motel 6 web site when one keys in the location and they both use the same name, Motel 6 Santa Nella / Los Banos. If you are not familiar with the area, you will probably reserve the one that pops up first because it says it's on Hiway 33 in Santa Nella. When you get off the freeway exit in Santa Nella, you immediately see a Motel 6 on Hiway 33 and assume it's the one you made the reservation at. So you go to the front desk give them your name and tell the clerk you have a reservation. The clerk checks your ID and credit card and assigns you a room. The problem is that you don't have a reservation at that site, but they have empty rooms to fill. Instead of directing you to the correct site, they just take your money. Meanwhile you get billed as a "no-show" at the other site. It gets worse! Later, we noticed that the first name on our receipt was incorrect, not even close. As a result we called the 800# to insure that we were at the correct site and because the motels use the same name, we were insured by the representative that we were at the correct site. Calling Motel 6 customer service is an exercise in futility! The first representative tried to be helpful and took a detailed report. She explained that the site that billed us as a "no-show" was a franchisee and the corporate offer had no control over them. The site we actually stayed at was a corporate site and they may be able to do something to make this right. Subsequent calls were met by arrogant defensive personnel who placed all the blame on us rather than look at their incompetent staff. What happened to listening to the customer complaint and resolving it in a satisfactory manner? The customer may not always be right, but they deserve to be heard. We would never stay at a Motel 6 or their affiliated management company's(ACCOR) site again and would recommend that other avoid this schlocky company. One just has to read their other reviews to realize what a disaster this company is. They have no concept of customer service, most sites are the pits, reps and management constantly lie about things. Reviews that are 50:1 in the negative should send the management a message if they really cared!
