Enterprise Rent-A-Car Complaint - Enterprise Does Not Offer Liability Insurance in Puerto Rico
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI -- Before we went to Puerto Rico this March 2010, we booked a car over the internet with Enterprise in San Juan. The internet document stated that we would be able to purchase supplemental liability insurance for around $11. per day. I had checked with our insurance company and found out that it does not cover Puerto Rico. When we got to the San Juan car rental location, we were told that car rental companies in Puerto Rico do not offer liability insurance despite what our internet document stated. The previous year we had rented from Allied and paid around $10. per day for liability insurance. Enterprise implied that we had been taken by Allied. We were very concerned about not being able to get liability insurance and called Enterprise corporate at the San Juan site. The locals at the San Juan site talked to corporate and told them they did not offer liability insurance. The San Juan Enterprise office told us that Hertz in PR offers limited liability insurance, but all of Hertz's cars were booked and we needed to get to Guayama where we had rented a house. We ended up driving a week in Puerto Rico without liability insurance, and driving in PR is a harrowing, dangerous experience! We won't be returning to Puerto Rico and won't be renting from Enterprise again.
