Cirque du Soleil Free Ticket Scam through MGM Entertainment Vacation Packages Complaint - Cirque du Soleil Free Ticket Scam through MGM Entertainment Vacation Packages Aria Bellagio Luxor Vdara on Travelzoo
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- I bought a travel package I found on Travelzoo.com-- through Expedia- to stay at the MGM ARIA hotel in Las Vegas, because they offered 2 free tickets to a Cirque du Soleil show of my choice with the package-
I called to reserve the show tickets, and not only did they not have my selected show "available" for the time I selected, they didn't have it for the second later show either-
nor for the next days show....
nor for that days show for our 2nd choice cirque show
nor for that days later show for our 2nd choice cirque show
nor for our 2nd choice cirque show on the 3rd day (early show)
nor for our 2nd choice cirque show on the 3rd day (late show)
nor for our 3rd choice Cirque show-
nor for our 3rd choice later show
nor for our 3rd choice Cirque show on the next day preferred time (early)
nor for our 3rd choice Cirque show on the next day late show
NOR for our 4th choice Cirque show
NOR for our 4th choice Cirque show at a later time
OH-- BUT WAIT-- I forgot to mention!
The CSR at MGM gladly offered that she could SELL us tickets for any of those show at the regularly listed prices!!
I thought that this kind of thing was regulated and illegal - ESPECIALLY in Las Vegas- by some sort of watchdog group?
Now I see that this scam has been on all the major travel boards-- but all roads lead to MGM hotels!! The Cirque shows in question are at their hotels, and MGM is the one trying to sell me the full price tickets instead of giving me the ones I already paid for with my "Package price"!
Here's what they said in advance of my reservation attempt:
Buy a 3+ Night Air/Hotel Package and Receive 2 Show Tickets
MGM Mirage March Entertainment Promotion - Two Show Tickets
Book a three (3) night or more air/hotel package and receive up to two (2) tickets to a Cirque du Soleil®, Disney's THE LION KING, or other performance of your choice. Additional tickets can be purchased at full price.
Please note the second to last sentence--"of your choice"
How is that not a blatent, illegal and fraudulent practise?
And how does the Las Vegas Hotel association (is there such a thing-- or is it a mob run "racket"?) allow them to get away with such a thing!????
As it was explained to me-- "they can't give away a whole theater of tickets, they have to make money on the other end you know..."
WOW! What a blatent (i like that word today...) bald-faced statement of criminal intent! They have no tickets to give away, because it would cost too much to give them away- so they get you to buy a full, non-refundable package vacation, based solely on the value of the "free Cirque tickets of your choice", and then-- not only don't give you the free tickets, but sell you those tickets at full price, because they know that they've got you by the short hairs, now that you've already committed over $1000 of non-refundable cash towards this trip!!!
doesn't anybody get mad at this????
