Merillat Complaint - Don't expect to return a Merillat cabinet

I bought a few kitchen cabinets. It turns out I didn't need one and tried to return it to the small town lumberyard who is a dealer for Merillat cabinets. It turns out Merillat does not accept any returns. So now I am stuck with a $170 cabinet. In today's world a company that sells product should also be willing to take back unopened product.

I will never buy another Merillat product and I will do my best to spread the word to others.

Maybe because they are cut to your measurements. Some items you just can not return.

A cabinet is not like a pair of jeans, it just can't be put back on the rack for resale. If the retailer took it back it would be unlikely a customer would come in and want to buy that 1 cabinet. If the manufacturer did take returns by the time you pay restocking fees, transportation of the cabinet back to the manufacturer, etc it just wouldn't be worth it. The old adage, Poor planning on your part does not mean an emergency on my part.

So then there should be exceptions to the policy of respecting the author, based on the content of their complaint?
