Hobbytron Complaint - Do Not Buy Anything From Hobbytron
SAN FERNANDO, CALIFORNIA -- In February I ordered a remote controlled F-150 monster truck for my grandson's birthday. When he received it, the truck was broken inside the original packaging (not due to the shipping). It was mailed back to them and they now have it. I have tried to contact Hobbytron which is a feat in itself. They either do not answer the phone, they have a message saying call back during business hours (this is the middle of a weekday) or if you get through, they tell you to leave a message. I have left two detailed messages for them and they did not return the calls. Their live help line has always said "offline."
I contacted the Better Business Bureau. They, in turn, contacted the company whose response was they had not received any calls, and they do not issue refunds on opened items. They issued an in store credit for the amount of the item (minus sales tax and shipping). The problem with that is they do not tell you how to use that in store credit. I e-mailed them regarding that and have not received any reply. Quite frankly, I do not want to do any kind of business with them ever again. I filed a rebuttal to the BBB regarding Hobbytron's response.
We have never seen a more hostile return policy than this company's. If you open the box, they won't take it back (it doesn't matter that it's defective in the first place). They even state that if you seek a credit card chargeback they will charge you $50. I would hope this is illegal, but this will be my next step.
I only wish I had checked this companies complaints (hobbytron.com/complaints), as there are a multitude of them, and the Better Business Bureau gave them an "F" rating.
This company should be shut down.
