Enterprise Rent-A-Car Complaint - Bait and switch - Rental car
COLUMBUS, OHIO -- I've used Enterprise since 1999 because they have been very good with customer service and value.
But that's all changed recently. In the old days, I often would reserve a compact and would be upgraded to a mid-size as a courtesy or because they were short on compacts.
About a month ago weeks ago, I reserved an "intermediate" car, which is listed on their website as a Pontiac G5, Nissan Sentra or "eqivalent". I wound up with a Sentra, which is a decent car. Very roomy, huge trunk, XM radio, everything you expect in an intermediate.
Last week, I reserved an intermediate and they gave me a Kia Spectra. This car is about as "intermediate" as a Geo. It is definitely not in the same class as a Sentra. Far less roomy, smaller trunk, basic radio. Yet, they charged me the same price. According to industry sources, including Edmonds, the Spectra is a compact car. I called Enterprise HQ today and they confirmed that it is their policy to include a Kia Spectra in the same class as a Pontiac G5 or Nissan Sentra.
The Kia Spectra is in no way an "equivalent" to the examples they list for an intermediate car. In my view, this is nothing less than good old fashioned bait and switch.
On top of that, the agent we rented from said there would be a $15 per day charge for a second driver. I have rented with a second driver listed on numerous occasions and never heard of this fee before. Of course, the agent informed me it had been in effect "ever since I've worked here."
So, they ripped me off and then lied to me.
I was an Enterprise customer for 11 years. They will never see my business again.
