Marriott Vacation Club - Grand Vista Complaint - False sales promises

Review by Meigan on 2010-04-05
11501 INTERNATIONAL DR, ORLAPROMISED ANDO, FLORIDA -- We purchased a timeshare at the Grand Vista still under development in Orlando in November 2009. We already own 2 other Marriott timeshares and thus we qualify for a 100,000 self referral Marriott reward points if we purchased that day, which we did. To entice us to buy, the Sales Executive wrote down on a piece of paper that we would receive 630,000 reward points(380,000 and 250,000) if we purchased that day. Turns out that 250,000 was in lieu of a 20% price reduction which we took instead of the points. Other 380,000 I clearly asked for a breakdown being 100,000 for self referral and 140,000 each for 2009 & 2010. Last month, we asked Marriott to credit us with the 280,000 points but they now say we have to pay USD1,250 ALT USE FEE for 2010 and forget 2009 since it's gone. We think there was misrepresentation at the sales pitch & Marriott is asking for management fee disguised as ALT USE FEE. I emailed the Sales Exec. and said we would pursue with complaint to the Florida real estate regulatory. We want Marriott to honour the 280,000 reward points as promised at the presentation.

We have not heard from him again. Be warned and have salesman write down everything concisely & confirm what he & Marriott promised.
