Enterprise Rent-A-Car Complaint - Renting a car
TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN -- My mother, sister and I decided to take a trip with my three babies (2 yr old daughter and 1 yr old twins). We went up to the mall and had a great day. On the way home my van died in the middle of a VERY busy intersection. I glided into the nearest parking lot which just happened to be right next door to an Enterprise car rental. I walked over and explained the situation (clearly shaken) and asked what I could do for a rental car to try to at least get my babies home and come back (we live 2 hrs away). They told me I couldn't rent because I am not 25 (I'm 24). So my sister (26) went over. They would not rent to her because we had cash, they would only take a debit/credit card. So my mother goes over with her debit card. They wouldn't rent to her either. Why you ask? Because she didn't have a utility bill or a check stub!!! I'm sorry, but we didn't plan on breaking down 2 hrs from home with three infants! Didn't plan to have to rent a car to get them home. I'm sorry that we only had cash! But since when is cash not acceptable? Who carries around check stubs and utility bills? Apparently money is no good anymore. Why couldn't we just be told up front (when I first went in) that we needed a debit/credit card with utility bills etc. Why did it take 3 people going over to find out they WON'T help us? This to me was just ridiculous! I have NEVER heard of anyone needing utility bills or anything else to rent a car!
