Somerset Medical Center Complaint - Somerset Hospital Is The Worst Hospital To Go To For Proper Care

Complaint
Review by jjbitt on 2010-04-06
SOMERVILLE, NEW JERSEY -- The other nite my son was taken to Somerset Medical Center because he had a seizure do to a high fever. So we were wheeled in on a wheelchair and there were four nurses standing around the desk literally talking about me and my son in front of us not realizing we were rite there. One nurse said "well its her child she should know if he is really sick or not'' then they started laughing. Then the other one said "its a baby a baby! How are you gonna leave your baby at the hospital alone"after she said that not realizing I was behind them;the other nurse said "oh the mother is rite here"pointing to me as the other nurse was in shock and said "oh hi mom"how can I feel safe bringing my child to a hospital that clearly does not care at all. Then my son was moved to a room where the doctor only checked his ears and gave him some Tylenol and said he was fine and sent him home. Well the next day he had another seizure went to another hospital and they found with thorough examination that he has a throat infection.

If I had not taken my son to a different hospital he could have gotten sicker. I would advise somerset hospital to start caring for there patience more and stop rushing them out because there to lazy to care.

Why didn't you ask for the charge nurse, unit manager, house supervisor or anyone in charge if you felt that the care was substandard? Was this in the ER or was this on an actual inpatient unit?

You should have walked up to these health care representatives and taken their names. Better yet, you should have said, "May I have your name?" After that, I would have made sure their boss got the information.
