Cingular Wireless Complaint - Unscrupulous Billing practices
Back in 2004 I had Cingular Wireless and about the time they merged with AT&T, my monthly bills started getting peculiar. The dollar amounts were very high, $150, $435 and then $585 with NO itemized billing to justify the charges! I was just given an invoice sheet with a payment coupon with that amount on it. I immediately called customer service and demanded an itemized statement justifying the charges. The customer service agent promised to send me one in the mail. I never got it. This went on for four months, and then they turned it over to a collection agency, AFNI, that still has the account to this day. I fought it and filed a dispute on my credit report, and the verification came back from them saying I owed the debt! With absolutely NO WRITTEN PROOF!!! I was absolutely furious!!! Now the collection agency wants a 50% settlement to close the file and get it off my credit report. This is nothing short of extortion!! I hope everyone involved at Cingular/AT&T who screwed over the consumers on this shady type of stuff rots in hell!!! I am so DAMNED ANGRY!!! You bet I want a class action lawsuit, and I will be the first in line to testify as to how those SOBs screwed me over!!!
