Mercantila.com/Stepper-Superstore Complaint - Charges for shipping at checkout when product is advertised as being "Fast FREE FedEx Shipping"

Review by TD5898 on 2010-04-08
SAN FRANCISCO -- On or about April 6, I accessed the http://www.stepper-superstore.com website to place an order for SPRI Circuit Step which is listed with Fast FREE FedEx Shipping. When I went to check out... all appears to be OK with the total calculated OK. I then selected pay by Paypal and when I was returned from Paypall to confirm the order, there was now a $12 shipping charge listed on the order details. I aborted the order process and called the 800 number listed for assistance. After a bit of checking, the CSR said that the website was wrong and they can not sell me the product without a shipping charge. I then mentioned the various laws that require charging for items as advertised. The CSR then got a manager on the phone who backpedaled a bit and said that they where not sure what the issue was and did not have the ability to override the system and needed to make sure the appropriate programming changes where made.

It is now a day or two later and there website continues to say "FREE FedEx Shipping" or this item and then charges $12 shipping at the very last checkout page when the order is to be confirmed.
