Ashley Furniture Informative - Shopping Experience at Ashley
I am entering this review as informative and not a complaint. I recently bought a north shore living room set from Ashley Furniture Homestore. As soon as it was delivered I noticed that the cushions were soft. I weight 180lbs and when I sat on the cusions they compressed by 2.75 inches. I arranged a service check with the homestore. The gentleman who came and checked my chusions said the 2.75 inch compression on the cushions is "standard" for Ashley furniture and cannot be considered a defect. He said if I was willing to pay the store extra they would replace the standard cushion cores with 'high density' core which are better quality. I am planning to get the cores replaced by someone else if I can. It is impossible to reach the manufacturer directly to find out what is considered non-defective in terms of new cushion compression. The couch is only one week old and I have been told that my only option is to buy core from the retailer and pay about 15% of the cost of the couch extra. When I had asked questions about cushions while buying the couch I was assured by the sales person that Ashley uses very firm cores and the best that are out there. Now the exact words being used are "you get what you pay for, if you wanted firm cusions a couch this size cost $ 4000". Ashley furniture is good but if you looking to buy "affordable lower quality" pieces. unfortunately I had not checked online reviews before I bought my pieces, I would rather have bought one good couch for the same amount I paid for a couch and a chaise. Hopefully others will benifit form this information.
