Aflac Compliment - Great company
COLUMBUS, GEORGIA -- I have had Aflac short term disability and cancer supplemental insurance for years and have always had a great experience every time I submitted a claim. I have had to use the short term on 3 different occasions over the last 7 years and never had any issues with getting paid in a timely manner. Most recently I have been diagnosed with a rare disease that has had me out of work for 7 months and Aflac has paid me without any question every time I submitted a claim or continuing disability claim.
In reading some of the complaints that have been submitted it sounds as if the contract that was presented to you was never read. It states in the first few paragraphs that there is a waiting period for the policy, mine is a 14 day one, so I didn't get any payment for the first 14 days I was out of work. n fact if I recall the salesperson that went over the plan with me before I signed up said I had choices on which waiting period I needed. He also showed me what, based on my salary, the daily payment rate would be to me if I were to become disabled. It also will state in the contract the cancellation terms. So no matter what plan you go with if you don't read the terms before signing on the dotted line then don't get upset with the company when they follow them and don't pay you for that waiting period time. I also don't understand why any reputable doctor wouldn't be able to fill out their portion of the claim form. All it asks for it the SIC code of your illness which any real doctor should know and what date the doctor expects you to return to work. If a doctor can't fill those simple questions out then you should probably find another doctor.
The forms Aflac has you fill out are easy compared to the ones that the State Disability has. The claim form for the state I live in are 3 pages long asking all kinds of questions to the doctor. Even the continuing forms for the state are harder than the forms Aflac has. I am sure that Aflac has salespeople that are unscrupulous just like any other company and those people will try to scam you into buying as many policies as possible but once again it's up to the patient to know what policy is going to be beneficial to them not someone else telling what you need.
I think Aflac is a great company and a great supplemental insurance to have when you need a little extra help with paying the bills when you are out of work due to illness or injury. I would recommend it to anyone.
No I don't work for Aflac, I am a legitimate customer of theirs in case any of those not so bright complaintants are wondering.
