Phillips66-Conoco76 Credit Card Complaint - Just Bad Business! - Phillips66-Conco76 Credit Card

Review by karlwilson on 2010-04-13
I have had this credit card since 1986 and have NEVER been late on payment. I made payment on 3/1/2010 and our check was cashed on 3/4/10. Yes, it was due on 3/1/2010. When I received the 4/1/2010 statement it had late fees and finance charges totaling $48.39 on a $124.47 charge. Upon calling, they refused to waive ALL the fees. I guess this is the way they thank their long time customers. Nonetheless, the card was cancelled and nobody in the "call" center, really cared. I bet their stock holders, board of directors, executives LOVE to hear stories like this! Bad business folks....... DISGUSTED IN COLORADO!

You made the payment on the date it was due--you were late with the payment. They had every right to charge you late fees and a finance charge. I do not see why you are all up in arms about your mistake. The due date is the date by which they should have the payment not the date you mail it in.

and if the payment is mailed on on the due date it will automatically be late because it'll take at least a day to show up

I think the OP used the online bill pay option to pay the bill, so payment was made on the first. The comapanies all have cutoff times. I don't know the cutoff time for this particular company because I don't have one of them, but if you can prove you paid it prior to that cutoff time, then they should credit you the money, although I would still close the card. Usually you get a confirmation page and number that can be used to track the payment, if not an actual email that you can save.

Due date is different from mailing date. BTW, I had this issue once, just be nice and the CS rep will waive the late fee and int chrges if you openly request.
