American Airlines Complaint - Reimbursement for lodging and food for flight cancelled due to mechanical failure
WASHINGTON -- On June 20, 2001, AA Flight #529 was cancelled due to mechanical problems with the air conditioning unit (as relayed by the pilot of that flight). After waiting on the runway for some time, the pilot reported that he could not fly until it was repaired. All other flights out of Washington, D.C. were then cancelled due to weather. I tried to explain this to in 2 letters to the executive office of AA.I was told that there was a report in front of them stating that the cancellation of Flight #529 was weather related and that there was nothing he could do for me other than $75 vouchers.
Due to the mechanical failure of this flight and the subsequent cancelled flights, my associates and I were forced to secure food and lodging for the night. Also, one non-salaried employee missed a day’s wages.
I do not understand how your report can show that Flight #529 was cancelled due to weather—when in reality --I was on that flight while it was delayed for over an hour before it was cancelled.
To help keep me as a potential future customer, I would like the following:
Reimubursement for lodging, food and lost wages
Yesterday, I received a letter from your executive office stating that they hope in time I will appreciate their point of view. I am perplexed to say the least! Thank you for your time.
