WINCHESTER, KENTUCKY -- When I checked in this place here I asked for a smoking room, the lady that worked the front desk(her name is holly) said she didn't have one but she would put me in one next to windows so I could smoke in my room, well after I check out I go home and notice they have charged me $150.00 for smoking in my room even though the front desk lady put me in there to begin with, if I had known that they was gonna charge me this I wouldve went somewhere else, there was other surrounding hotels I couldve went too!!!! so as of right now, no refund, which means no more staying here at this place and I strongly recommend everybody the same!!!! the place smells of mold and they didn't even change the sheets in the room and the breakfast was horrible!!!!

I have to wonder, if you hadn't been charged extra for smoking in a non-smoking room, would the mold not stink and the breakfast taste better?
the thing with smoking charges, since the room is billed as non-smoking they may have to perform additional cleaning to get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke.

I blame this one on Holly. If scottyc was told he could smoke in a non-smoking room, and I gather open the windows, he should have not been billed extra. We've heard from other members billed for smoking in a room, when they did not, after housekeeping found a cigarette butt floating in the toilet or in a trash can. Did you leave behind your evidence of smoking even though you were told you could?
I've never heard of a hotel yet that spends extra cleaning a non-smoking room to rid it of an odor whether cigarette or just just a smell, in your case the smell of mold. Your complaint about the bedsheets and breakfast are an entirely different matter and perhaps should not have been addressed in this complaint.

that's assuming she specifically said there would not be extra charges
since we only have one side we cannot verify that was actually offered.

yea to beat it all,i even cleaned the room before i left, i had all my trash in bags ready to be taken out all they had to do was change the sheets and put trashbags in lol, im laughing but im really mad because i went well beyond my duties as an honest customer and has been treated with not alot of respect and courtesy from this company.

If she told you that you could smoke in that room, you shouldn't have been billed. I would have gotten it in writing, though.

the kinda of cleaning i meant wasn't just putting the trash out but getting rid of the smoke smell
i have encountered people who are so sensitive to cigarette smoke that they cannot be in rooms where people have smoked before.
so i can only imagine the horror... paying for a non-smoking room, only to get in and find it lingering with a smoke smell.

You can dispute it on your credit card. If you had a witness, you would have a stronger case. Either way, it forces Holly to give her side. If she tells a different story, don't back down and keep responding because the truth is on your side and if she's lying she'll eventally feel the pressure and back off.
