Steak n Shake Complaint - The Cook doesn't wash his hands after blowing his nose - The food was ok
The food was ok - Complaint
RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA -- This is my 2nd complaint about Steak and shake. I will just tell you about this latest one. I was there on Saturday with my son. The cook blew his nose and didn't wash his hands. I complained to the manager. I don't think anything will be done. But I will tell everyone I know please don't go there. They are nasty...... I had eaten my food already and then that nasty cook turned around to me. I was looking him in the face as he blew his nose!! AND THEN HE PUT THE THE DIRY TISSUE IN THE GARBAGE... I ASKED THE WAITER WHERE THE SINK WAS I DIDN'T WANT TO MAKE A SCENE IF HE HAD WASHED HIS HANDS AND I COULDN'T SEE HIM. BUT FROM WHERE I WAS SITTING THE SINK WAS VERY CLOSE TO THE GARBAGE CAN WHERE HE THEW HIS NASTY TISSUE INTO... I REALLY DON'T THINK THE MANAGER WILL DO ANYTHING SHE WAS JUST AS YOUNG AS HE WAS.
I DON'T ASSUME ANYTHING THAT IS WHY WHEN I WENT TO PAY FO RMY FOOD I COULD THEN SEE WHERE THE SINK WAS THAT WAS WHEN I INFORMED THE MANAGER.

Well the OP didn't actually say that she/he ate there after seeing that
and if you don't think the manager will do anything just drop a call to the local board of health
cos the manager can't ignore a surprise inspection

I would assume that the OP ate there, since "The food was ok" was included in the title.

It can be of much help if one reads the entire review before commenting and I hardly think that a surprise inspection would be in order behind a guy blowing his nose accusation.

92973, I also have a question. I've been in 3 SteaknShakes, and I've never been able to see the kitchen from where I was sitting/standing/waiting to get seated. So, where did you see the cook do this?

i mean i've seen people make up their own health code rules and scream about workers not following these imaginary rules
but blowing your nose and then cooking w/out washing? that's a big big big violation
and yes that can warrant a health inspection
especially if the manager blows it off.

We go to Steak n Shake once in a while. The food is ok. It's a burger place... a bit of a step up from a fast food place. My daughter really likes it. The shakes are good. Supposdely, they have a nice breakfast menu, too.

The Steak and Shakes out here you can plainly see the cooks from about anywhere in the store.

I was just wondering, since the OP mentioned the "nose blowing", where did they see that? Perhaps they saw it in the restroom? It was a simple question.

Probably so Dryad. I'm no fan of steak and shake. The food is overpriced bad tasters and I hear that the cooks blow their noses without washing their hands. I don't see me in a steak and shake anytime soon.

At the SNS nearest me they have a little bar area near the flat grill where you can sit down and order, so it's possible that is how they saw. I blow my nose at work all the time and don't wash my hands because I'm not near the bathroom. I only work with money though so my hands are constantly "tainted" anyway.

I hollar at people for sneezing/blowing their nose in my kitchen. If they need to blow their nose, there's a bathroom there and I EXPECT them to wash their hands before coming back in my kitchen.
And NEVER...EVER...sneeze or cough when you have my fridge door open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERRRRRR!!!!!!
