Bank of America Complaint - They CAUSED Overdraft Fees
I had a few hours on pay day last week that my check account with Bank of America was very low..I knew my paycheck would be direct deposited that night, and I kept my fingers crossed that my daughter's music teacher, who was holding onto three months worth of monthly piano lesson payments, wouldn't pick those few hours to cash them. Unfortunately for me, she did cash them and overdrew the account. In addition, two. 99 instant transfers also hit the account, for a total of five entries during those few hours. Bank of American charged me $175.00 in overdraft fees for this. The money they took was budgeted for a monthly recurring payment to a credit card company for a hardship program I qualified for..if I don't have the funds available for that monthly credit card draw, I'm out of the program. I called Bank of America in tears telling them this and asking for the $175.00 back, or at least part of it, but was stonewalled by the rudest person I've spoken with in a long time. Today the credit card payment hit the account along with a charge of $1.75 the billpay service charges when the credit card bill is paid...Of course the account overdrew again since bank of America had left me unable to pay the credit card payment and I received two more overdraft charges..Now, had they not charged me 5 overdraft fees of 35.00 each in a period of about 3 hours, I would not have the second overdraft and $70.00 in fees. The fees alone equal one week's pay.....it makes me physically sick to think about it. I doubt another call to them would do any good....So in summary, in two working days bank of America took $245.00 in overdraft fees.
