Lakeshore Lodging Complaint - Beware Lakeshore Lodging

Review by stimmons on 2010-04-20
SAUGATUCK, MICHIGAN -- BEWARE LAKESHORE LODGING! To rent a condo there, you must pay 100% by check up front. If you arrive and the unit is completely unacceptable (as happened to a recent traveler), you are out of luck. They will not move you to another unit, they will not refund any portion of your money. Read their web site carefully - there is NOTHING there about customer service or making sure you are satisfied.

There is no guarantee or "if anything's wrong, we'll make it right" statement. Once they have your money, they are finished with you.

Moved From Other Review: As the Guest Service Manager I am compelled to respond to the resent post depicting Lakeshore Lodging as unresponsive to guest needs. This could not be any futher from the truth. All the staff at Lakeshore Lodging are dedicated to providing excellent service and attending to guest needs. I have attempted to determine who this guest is and where they stayed without luck. I would welcome contact from this guest to have the opportunity to correct their situation. The comments posted regarding our payment policies are incorrect and can be verified directly on our website at www.lakeshorelodging.com. Again, I encourage this guest to contact me directly.

Hey, don't take my word for it - here are direct quotes from Lakeshore Lodging's web site. As you read the policies, ask yourself: If we arrive at our condo, and it's FILTHY and HORRIBLE, does Lakeshore Lodging promise to make it right? No. Once you have paid 100% in cash up front, they have no obligation to make sure you get what you paid for. There is NOTHING on the web site about making sure you are happy. There's a reason they demand cash payment in full 30 days in advance - if you pay with a credit card and do not get what you paid for, your credit card company will protect you and give you a refund. Credit companies protect customers from unethical businesses like this. (Honestly, have you ever heard of a hotel or a resort who doesn't take credit cards? That's a red flag right there.)
