Sears Complaint - Craftsman 18" chainsaw with tool-less side tensioner
I live on an orchard and cut wood to sell. Anytime a tree falls, it needs to be quickly removed. I bought the 42cc 18" chainsaw with "tool-less" side tensioner to do this work. My issue is not with the running of the saw, it runs strong, it is with this tensioner system. It does not keep the chain tight, and I have had to replace the internal parts. My local service department did not have these in stock and was going to charge me shipping and handling to get them there. I opted to order online and the parts I ordered probably are not over a pound, and I was charged 13.99 shipping and handling. And to top that off, It is going to take 10 days to get here! The 800 number was not a help either, they told me for $29 I could have it looked at. I fixed it myself.
I bought a Stihl saw from a local small engine store and am extremely happy. The chain stays taught, minus chain stretch. and that 30cc motor keeps up with the big one. Go buy a Stihl and keep local companies in business.
