Moving Services - N. Miami Beach, FL - USA Complaint - Moving Services, Inc. - Liars and Cheats!
OHIO -- I contracted with Moving Services, Inc. from N. Miami Beach, FL in March 04 for my move from Ohio to the United Arab Emirates. I paid the required 35% deposit up-front as requested and the following 2 weeks I paid the remainder of the money. I was promised 2 months of free storage and all fees and paperwork would be included in the fee I was charged. Barbara Deane from Moving Services was the contact person that I communicated with exclusively.
Well, as most others have found out, I was lied to by Barbara. After I arrived in UAE, my stuff never came. I communicated with Barb via e-mail or I should say I tried to communicate. When I finally asked where my stuff was, she told me that I would have to call the dispatcher. I asked her to do this for me, since she was in the States and also since I had paid for her full service in advance. She said she couldn't communicate with them. So, in desperation, I e-mailed the third party to my shipment - Global Ocean Freight - and I was informed by them that they never received any payment for the shipment or storage so I would have to send them another payment for the shipment of my stuff, storage fee (from a company called In and Out Storage in Illinois) and other fees involved (meaning my stuff was now considered to be held hostage until I paid more money). I was extremely upset, but I knew I had been HAD by Moving Services, Inc. As of today, I am filing a law suit against Moving Services, as is Global Ocean Freight. I have not heard from Barbara Deane in 3 months nor was I ever offered any refund of any money. (Even thought they charged me $300 for 1-month storage that in reality cost only $75.)
For your own good...stay away from this company! Barbara Deane proclaimed that her company was rated good by the BBB in Florida and that her company was an honest and good company...I believe at this point they are in bankruptcy, but the attorney said if they are covered by insurance from the Dept of Transportation (as they proclaimed they were covered through) then I stand a chance of at least getting a portion of my money back.
I would highly advice anyone who is looking for an International shipper to find someone in your local area and DO NOT rely on the Internet for someone to provide this type of service. You need to have someone that you can see in person and know what their business situation is really like. Don't make the same mistake that I made and now here I sit out $4,000 + legal fees!
