GE Capital Cons Cardco Complaint - Questionable Business Practices - Hi Fi Buys Creditor

Hi Fi Buys Creditor - Complaint
Review by dswanson on 2004-11-23
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I see mixed reviews of GE Capital Cons Cardco on this site. I would like to add specifics of my experience just in case their is a credit consumer out there getting ready to buy something on credit and is interested in knowing something about GE Capital Cons Cardco.

Unfortunately, a lot of retailers use this company for credit handling and I don't know if you have choice in creditors. Ultimately, you do have a choice in products and retailers and might be able to find a similar or better deal at another retailer that doesn't use GE Capital Cons Cardco.

You can also practice safer payment practices to minimize the negative business practices of GE Capital Cons Cardco.

How can you learn from my experience with GE Capital Cons Cardco or other creditors like GE CCC?
With most of my creditors I mail payment 7 days before the due date. I don't have any problems with any other company except GE CCCC. They have billed me for late fees the last 3 months. I could mail payment 28 days before the due date, since they print the next months statement the day after the previous month's due date, but I am not convinced that this will be sufficient for GE CCC. It is interesting to note that the statements from GE Capital do not have a postmark stamp on them to indicate how long it takes mail to come from them to me.

I live in Atlanta and the payment is mailed to an address in Orlando, FL. GE Capital Cons Cardco is supposedly based in Cincinnati, OH. To file a BBB complaint against GE Capital Cons Cardo you have to file with the Cincinnati office. I wouldn't be surprised if the address in Orlando is a PO Box which is collected and mailed to OH for processing which may be the reason my payments are late because they are moving payments around before processing. A GE CCC Customer Service rep told me they do process payments in that office. Regardless of the reason why it takes more than 7 days for a piece of mail to go from Atlanta to Orlando I would recommend to ALL OF YOU TO NOT MAIL TO THEIR P.O.BOX ADDRESS (WHICH DOES NOT GIVE YOU VERIFICATION OF DELIVERY AND MAY LEAVE YOU SUSCEPTIBLE TO QUESTIONABLE CREDIT PRACTICES) BUT RATHER TO MAIL VIA CERTIFIED MAIL WITH SIGNATURE REQUIRED TO THE STREET ADDRESS FOR THE COMPANY. YOU CAN VERIFY THE STREET ADDRESS BY CALLING THE CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE NUMBER ON YOUR BILL. ON 11/23/2004 I WAS TOLD THE STREET ADDRESS IS:

GE CAPITAL CONS CARDCO
140 WEKIVA SPRINGS ROAD
LONGWOOD, FL 32779-3604

I WAS TOLD BY A GE CCC CS REP THAT THEY WILL PROCESS PAYMENTS RECEIVED PRIOR TO 5PM FOR THAT DAY.

I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO VERIFY THE STREET ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING PAYMENT AS THE ADDRESS MAY CHANGE.

This office is more than likely serviced by one of the following post offices:

If you suspect that your payment is being delivered and not processed timely by GE CCC then your complaint falls under Federal Mail Fraud.
You can file a complaint through the following link: http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/fraud/

NOTE: I would never give GE CCC access to a direct withdrawal as their processing practices bring into question their business integrity. Their business policy is to excuse 1 late payment then you are subject to the terms of the credit policy that you signed. If you signed up for a 1 year same as cash on a >$4,000 loan then the second penalty may cost you $500+ of deferred interest. PROTECT YOURSELF!! ONLY SEND THEM CERTIFIED MAIL WITH SIGNATURE REQUIRED TO THEIR STREET ADDRESS EVEN IF YOU SEND PAYMENT 25 DAYS EARLY!!!!

WHAT DOES IT SAY ABOUT A COMPANY WHEN YOU SEARCH GOOGLE WITH THEIR COMPANY NAME AND THEIR BUSINESS ISN'T THE FIRST HIT BUT RATHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE COMPANY????

GE Capital CONS CARDCO has been one of the worse nightmares I have ever experienced. My daughter got the card for $200 worth of vet bills, and they have managed to run it up to $650. They didn't send a bill for 2 months so she called and they said they didn't have the right billing address. When she received the bill they had charged her for 2 months of late fees. She called and supposively straightened it out with one of the customer service reps., but that wasn't the end of it. The next month the charges were still there. She called again, was spoken to rudely. They refused to take the charges off, and put her on hold for a supervisor twice that never came to the phone. She is 19 yrs. old and this was her first credit card. Every month she tries to call and straighten it out, and is treated the same. The bill is now over $600 which exceeds the credit available of $500 so they charge her for overlimit fee. Since she didn't know how to handle it, I tried to talk to them with her next to me and they refused to talk to me since it wasn't my account.
This $200 bill is going to cost her over $1000 by the time this is done. Don't do business with these people. My daughter thought it was part of her vet. and didn't realize it was a seperae company. This company will take your money, treat you bad and not care. We have notified the vets and hope they and others no longer use them.
Always check before signing on the dotted line....
