Spirit Airlines Complaint - Pros and Cons of a so called 'budget' airline
My first experience with Spirit will certainly be my last.
The first annoyance was all the nickle and diming that goes on after I had purchased my base fare. They hit you up for luggage and securing a seat in advance. Check in was fine and the staff very helpful however on boarding the plane it was visibly dirty and the seats were terribly uncomfortable. They also only tilt back about 2 inches. That means very little or no recline. My recline position was like an upright position.
The worst thing is if Spirit has a hold up due to 'weather' it is unlikely that you will get another connection the same day because they have so few flights. You will either be stuck in the airport for a very long time or stuck with additional expenses such as; hotel, taxi and transfers!
I had this experience. My budget flight was suddenly becoming very expensive one.
In the future I would choose a carrier that costs slightly more. I came off of a five hour Spirit flight feeling like a wreck. Crammed seats no complimentary beverages, food or entertainment. Bare bones flying at it's best. No thanks!
