Discount World Vacations, Inc Complaint - Watch out for vacation packages, they don't keep what they promise

Review by the Lord is on my side on 2010-04-29
HOLLYWOOD, FL, FLORIDA -- I was sold 21 days of vacation to be used over a period of 3 years. The final sale was made over the telephone and was taped. I had to give them my yearly income and told them I was single as part of the information.

Some of the offers were in Florida and cruises around Florida. I told them I did not have money to fly those places. The closest was Branson, MO and one of the offers was 6 nights that would be worth the $298 I had paid for the package. Finally in February 2010 I was able to take the 6 night package. I called the company to make sure I was doing the paperwork right. The 6 nights had been changed to 2 nights and so I faxed the form for the 2 nights (better than nothing). I was called right away and said I was denied because I did not make over $50,000 a year and I was single. They knew that when I was sold the package and now I could not even use the 2 nights in Branson. I called the company asking for a refund. They were very rude to me and said I'm not getting a refund because I should have asked for it after having it 30 days. I did not know I would be denied until I tried to reserve the 2 nights in Branson.

After letters from 2 different lawyers and a complaint sent to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services I got a call from Discount World Vacations and said they were sending me a refund.

I'm sorry you had to endure such a frustrating ordeal, but I thank you for helping me not make the mistake of succumbing to this company.
It's ridiculous what they're doing!
