Akins Ford of Winder, GA Complaint - Nightmare Sales Experience

WINDER, GEORGIA -- I can't imagine a more AWFUL sales experience. First of all, we told the sales person, Stan, what we were looking for and how much we were willing to spend (a used F250, preferably diesel, in the $12k and under range). He said he had several in stock that would be around that price and for us to come out and see- well, after test driving a vehicle and deciding that was the one we wanted to go with, we later found that the price on the vehicle was nearly twice what we had advised was in our budget...The second issue was that when he ran my credit application, it was rejected- I still don't completely understand why, but he could not explain that to me and didn't bother. He basically sent us away and refused to answer any further questions or our requests to please JUST WORK WITH US. At no point did he even bother to ask how much we had available in cash, and in the end, we ended us paying for our vehicle at a different dealership in cash. I begged Stan to please just call me back, to tell me how much we needed to put down/ pay in full, to see if there were other vehicles on the lot we could look at, and he just refused to return my calls or respond to my emails. I guess he thought that I just wasn't worth talking to....

Definitely the worst sales experience I've ever had, but in the end I guess I'm glad we went elsewhere. We found almost the exact same vehicle for less than half what they asked for there, were approved for credit, but decided to pay in cash anyway to save on interests, so it all worked out in the end :-)

I had a very similar experience with a Nissan Dealer. I test drove a car, decided we liked it and went inside to do the paperwork. Everything was fine until we let them know that we had already arranged financing through our credit union. We were told in no uncertain terms that our business was not needed and we should consider CARMAX. We ended up at a Chevy Dealer and bought a Trailblazer at 0% financing. My best guess is that you and I were not profitable enough to the dealer; it is also my guess that they make a lot of "commission" from the arrangement of financing. In the end we were both better off finding different dealers. Congratulations!
