Nextel Complaint - Nextel, How business does not get done
EAST COAST, USA -- Recently after being with Nextel for 5 years my business travel has extended from 2 states to 8 states and DC. Now approx. 40% of my travel time is spent without cellular coverage because of Nextel not having coverage in a lot of areas.
Contacted Alltel and was going to switch my service to them. Everything was fine until I contacted Nextel to have my plan with them stopped at the end of the month. At that time I was told I would have a $200 termination fee applied because my contract was not up until next August. I had thought my contract was up about 2 to 3 years ago. They then informed me that when I purchased a replacement phone in August 2004, they locked me into a 1 year contract extension.
In August 2004 I called Nextel about getting a new phone because I just broke my old one. They gave me the price, I said ok and they mailed me a phone. Now they tell me that the price I was quoted was a discounted price with a 1 year agreement. I explained to them the travel area thatI have and how much time is spent without cell phone coverage with their company. They explained to me that they were not concerned about this and if I wanted out of my contract to pay them the $200. Well Nextel, your $200 is on its way. Just wanted to let people know how not to do business with company.
