Europcar Complaint - Double Charging And Lack Of Customer Service
UK -- Having seen other reviews on this site, I thought I would add my voice to those dissatisfied with Europcar's customer service (or lack thereof). I rented a car in July/August 2009 for 1 month. When I took the car, I confirmed with the clerk that it should be returned empty. I then confirmed same on return. I was then shocked to be charged an exhorbitant sum for the car to be filled with petrol. At the time, fuel was Stg 1/- per litre and I was charged approx Stg 1.70 per litre. Also, I apparently had a fine. I was charged twice for this fine and have been fighting since to get a copy of the fine, a refund of the double charge and an answer to my query about the cost of the fuel. Every communication with Europcar has been met with silence. I have now contacted UK Trading Standards for clarification on this case and will continue to fight for my refund and for the fuel charge situation to be clarified.
I will never rent from this company again and would advise others to do the same - it will end up costing you double what you expected!
